Railway crossing Bosscherweg

The present railway crossing is of no consequence for the traffic. Hardly recognizable also. It will be reinstated fully with traffic lights and barriers. A crossing free solution would be preferable and logic, but it will not be possible until the landpart of the Noorderbridge will be shifted to the north according to the Belvedèreplan.

The wooden sleepers are removed, the welded rails are shifted to the side to be cut in pieces and to be transported. The buffer at this spot is a remainance of the junction to Sappi, former KNP.

In the first week of October the railway crossing was closed off for traffic and new prefab elements were layed in the road !

At the same time the part between the railway crossing and the railway bridge across the Zuid-Willemsvaart was connected by sleepers and rails.

On Monday October 6 the new railway crossing was embedded in the asphalt and road traffic was opened again. The barriers and warning lights will be placed on a latter date !

Bridge across the Zuid-Willemsvaart

 

 

 
 

The last narrow part of the Zuid-Willemsvaart gives entrance to the waterworks around the old fortress of Maastricht and makes it possible to reach the inner harbour " `t Bassin". The diagonal placed viaduct will be replaced by a new sound-deadening roadway and the brickwork will be patched.

Alongside the beams temporary buttresses are placed to prevent the bridgeheads to move. A few cm's would mean that the new roadway would not fit.

A new constructed bridge is in its place. Here one is reconnecting the last gap in the tracks between the railway crossing and the new bridge !

On the new bridge a maintainance passage is attached. The old footbridge has been removed. The cable pipes are now attached under the roadway instead of at the sides like before !
