Boschpoort Sattion, built in 1858, only had a small shunting yard along the Zuid-Willemsvaart. Yet far from the inner city ! In 1876 the city of Maastricht lost its destination as fortified city and with the rubble of the walls and gateways the canals were merely filled in. North of the city part of the "Lage Fronten" (Lower front lines) were still intact and it is here where the city-council wanted to build a big marshalling yard, near the Sphinx-factories.
However it lasted until 1903 before the "Emplacement" at the Statensingel could be realized.At this emplacement a goods shed of van Gend en Loos was established, also a shed for the AGA company and there was a customs shed for handling the goods from Belgium. Further a discharging place for Sibelco. In the mean time all the buildings are gone and the Dutch Railways exploit the terrain with the help of Q-Park as a fenced pay-parkinglot.
The main track coming from the Boschpoort station has been removed and is turned into a green lane.

This little brick bridge over the remains of the Lower front lines gave entrance to the marshalling yard at the Statensingel.

On top of the bridge there are no more rails but the extra long sleepers are still there.

Coming from the bridge one can see the road metal under the grass and at this place there still is a forgotten buffer.

At the right we see this concrete wall, which one can climb by means of a iron stairway. It has the looks of a former coalbunker, compare it to the coalbunker in Aachen-West!

On top of the wall is a asphalted height, bordering the old fortification-wall. Beneath a track is close to the wall !

Then we end up on the fence of the Q-Park-parkinglot, where in the old days the emplacement Statensingel was. It looks like one has just covered the tracks with a thick layer of earth, and than asphalted it..........
